HOW TO KILL YOUR PARENTS: Killer kids – the true-crime cases behind the film Heavenly Creatures and the TV series Landscapers
Imagine murdering your parents? Not really, but there are people out there in this big wide world who not only had murderous thoughts about doing away with their mum or dad, they actually went through with it… This week on Eavesdroppin’ Geordie & Michelle look at two true-crime cases of killer kids, starting with the New Zealand teenagers that inspired the film Heavenly Creatures and the real-life story of the murderous couple behind the new TV series Landscapers…
When Sir Peter Jackson of Lord of the Rings fame released his breakout film Heavenly Creatures back in 1994 starring an unknown actress called Kate Winslet, the film scooped up loads of accolades but also shone a light on the chilling story of two New Zealand schoolgirls, Pauline Parker and Juliet Hulme, who murdered Pauline’s mother in cold blood. Why did the pair ‘moider’ Honora Parker? What was so shocking about the case? Why are we talking about Melanie Lynskey? What happened to the killer teenagers? And where are they now?
